Neurosurgery and 600 Other Groups Urge Congress to Repeal IPAB

ipabToday’s post originally appeared on the Protect My Doctor and Me website. It addresses a key element of the Affordable Care Act — the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) — which is a board of 15 unelected and largely unaccountable government bureaucrats whose primary purpose is to cut Medicare spending. Such cuts threaten America’s seniors timely access to care, so repealing the IPAB is one of organized neurosurgery’s top legislative priorities. As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts, the AANS and CNS recently joined more than 600 other organizations in writing a letter to Congress urging repeal (and, yes, you read that correctly — 600 organizations — who ALL agree IPAB is bad news for Medicare beneficiaries).
