So What Exactly is eAdvocacy?

Last month, Neurosurgery Blog was fortunate enough to attend the second annual eAdvocacy Summit at the Newseum in Washington, DC — an event sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company and the Global Healthy Living Foundation. During this event, distinguished speakers and panelists engaged with participants about the influence of social media on public policy advocacy (or something us Washingtonians like to call “eAdvocacy”).

The day’s “best in show” was a keynote address from Erik Qualman, author of the bestselling book, “Socialnomics” and digital media expert. His discussion provided the audience with perhaps the best definition of the social media revolution (via a YouTube video) and why it’s sooooooooo important to embrace it. That said, don’t take our word for it, watch the segment below for yourself (it knocked our socks off and we hope it does the same for you).

Pretty awesome right? Those impressive statistics should be able to make anyone a believer in the social media movement and its power to influence not only public policy, but the healthcare world as we know it (a topic you can bet you bottom bibby we will talk more about here on Neurosurgery Blog).
